Trides of Tears
The original Bengali book ‘Chokh Vese Jai Jole’ by Mazharul Mannan was first published in 2008. Due to its immense popularity as an autobiography of a person who rose to prominence from a marginalised background, the book saw its fourth publication in 2026.
The book has been translated by Sanad Singha Goswami, and the translated version is titled “Tides of Tears”. It is published by Kaler Chithi in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The book is regarded as a chronicle of the eras following British India, encompassing the twenty-four-year Pakistan regime and the first fifty years of Bangladesh. The many characters from diverse walks of life make the book highly engaging and open a new window into the subaltern history of Bangladesh.
